October Memory for Kids

We have been choosing our memory verses from different CD’s produced by Seeds Family Worship. The music is a great way for kids [and parents] to get Scripture stuck in their heads. Getting God’s Word into the heads and hearts of our kids is one of the most valuable things we can do for them. This year, we are using their CD I Believe. They are also producing an online family devotional for these verses that you can find HERE. If you don’t already do family devotions, this might be a great place to start.

CD’s are in! If you would like an I Believe CD, or a code to download the album for FREE, find me or Stephanie Atkinson this Sunday at church. We’d love to give your family one!

Teaching Kids to Worship Every Day

What a great opportunity we have as parents to teach our kids how to worship God! We teach them by bringing them to church [or watching worship together online]. And we help them by worshipping in small ways throughout the week. This article has some practical ideas for how to do this with our kids. How to instill a life of worship. And his book, which is filled with more ideas, is available in the resource center at church.

Rooted Resources for Talking with Teenagers About Politics

Tuesday is an important day for our country. And Tuesday will go exactly according to God’s sovereign plan. It can often be hard to balance these two things at the same time. Engaging in the responsibility we have as citizens of this country to the beat of our ability, and putting our hope in God, who is holding all things together. And while it can be hard for us to remember these things personally, it can also be hard to know where to start in helping our kids understand these things, and begin to think Biblically about them. This is a compilation of articles from the last few years from a website for parents and student ministry workers with ideas for how to talk to your kids about politics. Most of them focus on the character we want our kids to be growing in, by the grace of God, and the ways in which belonging to Jesus changes our perspective on people, and the world around us. I hope these are helpful for you and your family as we walk together through this big week in the life of our nation.

Project Orion Mosaic Image of the Galaxy

This is just something I thought was pretty cool. It is a project that took 5 years to put together that takes hundreds of pictures of the galaxy and puts them together for an incredible picture of just how big and intricate our God’s creation is.
